We have some cool updates coming to Memory Usage Plus that will hopefully help your phone run a little snappier. We are adding an auto kill functionality that will allow you to add applications to an auto kill list and when those applications get set to a priority 400 or 500 we will automatically kill the app for you so you can reuse that memory on the phone. This comes in real handy for games or apps you have downloaded and use infrequently, just add them to the list and we will clean up after you have left the app. I have been testing this on my HTC Hero and I notice it makes a big difference, especially right after start up after all the apps are initialized. I have the following apps in my auto kill list: Cardio Trainer, Facebook, Footprints, Google Maps, IM, Movies, ShopSavvy, Sprint Nav, WordPress, and Market. I use the Memory Widget on my home screen and I can see when the auto kill runs my available memory goes from ~ 30 MB to ~ 70 MB. Now granted, the Android OS will use some of that memory right away for the cache but I do notice my phone performs quit a bit better with this app cleaning up after me. I do want to say that you should ONLY add apps that you have installed from the market to auto kill or apps that you are certain you know what they do. For example you dont want to auto kill Messaging or you will not receive text messages etc.. We are shooting to release this update this Saturday 4/17. We look forward to hearing any feedback….
